A Meta-analysis on the Trend of Arts Therapy Program for the School Violence and its Effect

Abstract
This study aims to at explore the current research trend drawn from studies on arts therapy programs pertaining to domestic school violence and conduct meta-analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of arts therapy program. The subject was selected from the doctorate and Ph. D. dissertations on arts therapy programs for school violence and research results registered on academic journals from 2000 to 2015. For a systemic literature review, articles have been selected from the RISS, the National Assembly Library, and other databases. using key word such as school violence, aggressiveness, delinquency, art therapy, music therapy, dance/movement therapy, and integrated art therapy. Then, an analysis was conducted on 90 dissertations that were retrieved, and the results are as followed. In terms of independent variable, art therapy program comprised 77.8 percent of overall therapy programs while studies on aggressiveness comprised 37 percent of studies related to dependent variables. The outcome confirmed that the magnitude of effect was large as the influence of arts therapy¡¯s protective factor on school violence was .808 and the influence of the risk factor ?1.44. Overall, this study is very meaningful in that it probes the research trend of arts therapy that relates to school violence, identifies the magnitude of effects through meta-analysis, and provides empirical data that can anticipate specific effects of an arts therapy program on school violence based on its operational method.
